Works.

My drawings and paintings are concerned with reimagining the consequences of disruption to biological and mineral forms from the influence of decay, disease, the ageing process and the outcomes of environmental impact. My work is abstract and abstract figurative, taking inspiration from living beings and forms in nature, representing often playfully obscure and disquieting creatures, each with their own way of doing the things that they do. Life is all around us, sometimes not even visible. Decay is past, present and future.

Processes: The materials I use are, paradoxically, subject to both strict control and loose experimentation, but have unpredictable behaviours of their own when being manipulated, often informing the subsequent direction of the process. The “happy accidents” that occur during the process contribute to the joy of uncertainty, thus, none of my works are fully prescribed, but develop as they evolve from an initial idea to whatever they eventually become.

I enjoy the freedom to act upon my values and interests, as well as the governance and autonomy of being an independent creative.
